Think books are offered as a daily non-verbal communication system. Every child is offered their own Think Book, which they do not have to use. They scribble ideas or draw a picture in it, and put it in a special place for the teacher or teaching assistant to respond to. The books can take the heat out of a situation by allowing the pupil to express an emotion immediately, without having to resort to poor behaviour.
